How to Buy on Hellobooks
- If your desire is to shop and buy book(s) on hellobooks.co.za, we will not charge you. There are no hidden charges, although you should take note of the shipping charges stated when checking out your cart items. Shipping charges not relating to The Courier Guys services, will be at the discretion of the seller. The trade on hellobooks.co.za is strictly between sellers and buyers.
- To make a purchase on hellobooks.co.za you don’t need to be a registered user but we do suggest you register as you can benefit from developments on our website as a registered buyer.
- On the Registration form, you will need to fill in the following information: your name and surname, your user name, your email address and a password you can remember (minimum 6 characters).
- The innovation on hellobooks.co.za is an option that you can be contacted via WhatsApp for prompt feedback and assistance. If your WhatsApp number is different to your cell number, please provide your WhatsApp number.
- Click on the Register account button to submit your registration form.
- On the following page, we will confirm that your registration was successful and you will be given an option to complete some additional information which will make the checkout process super-fast. If, however, you would prefer to start shopping right away, you can always complete the additional information during checkout.

- To use our search engine is very simple. Just type in the title or author’s name or if you know the ISBN or barcode of the item, type it in with or without spaces. Make sure that you are using the correct spelling. The other option is to use the navigation bar to look into the different categories and subcategories from the drop-down menu that hellobooks.co.za provides for listings. It is possible that one product can belong to several different categories. Or just borrow the page where all listings are. If you cannot find what you are looking for, just send us an email with all the details you have on the item, and we will let you know whether it is currently available on our site. - Once you have located the books you want to buy, please check if you are happy with the seller’s shipping options and then press “Add to cart” button (or while you browse, click on the product you wish to buy and then click on “Add to cart”). You can view your cart at any time while you are shopping – there is a link on each page. This means you can see how many items you have added so far, or remove any items you have changed your mind about or apply any promotional or discount codes.
- To remove items from your cart or change the number of copies that you have selected, simply click on the “Edit” button on your cart. On the next page, you will be able to change the number selected or click on the “Delete” button next to the item to remove it from your cart. You can then click on the “Proceed to checkout” button to checkout your cart.
- Every second-hand book we list on the hellobooks.co.za is unique – there is literally just the one! So, when you add a second-hand item to your basket, we ‘lock’ it there for 1 hour so you don’t have to rush to the checkout (of course you can still remove the item at any time). Although other users can still see view the product, they will see a message saying it’s locked in to another buyer’s basket. Book(s) locking prevents the disappointment of having a book you have fallen in love with snatched from under your nose, and means you can keep on shopping – just make sure you get to the checkout before your hour is up! After this time, the item will stay in your basket but it becomes available for other users to buy.
- When submitting your order, you are agreeing to the purchase of goods and to allowing hellobooks.co.za to use your personal data for the purpose of supplying the goods. For further information on privacy and security please see Terms & Conditions.
- All sellers offer a limited-period returns policy, so you can buy safe in the knowledge that you can return your goods for a refund, should you wish to do so. The period within which you can return your items is 3 (three) working days starting on the day you receive the items. You will need to pay for the shipping of returned goods.
- If you have purchased an item from the hellobooks.co.za and it is damaged or defective – and this was not described in the listing – please contact the seller and return it as soon as possible. Refunds will be processed within 30 days. Each book is individually rated by the seller only. Please look at the picture, ask questions if you are not sure about the book. - Hellobooks.co.za uses Payfast as our preferred payment gateway solution where you can enjoy a secure online transaction experience.
- Once the payment transaction is finalized you will receive an email confirming seller’s contact details. Please make contact with the seller regarding shipping options. Should the seller have opted to make of Hellobooks door-to-door courier option, The Courier Guy, the buyer will have the option to make use of the facility to ship their books to the buyer’s account address. Someone will need to be available at the address to receive the delivery. Deliveries are made during business hours from Monday to Friday. You will receive an email with the tracking number.
- Once you have received your parcel, please rate the seller’s product and service. We know that time is precious, but we would greatly appreciate it if you would give us some feedback rating the seller at hellobooks.co.za. - International Buyers – Please Note: by South African law, we are only allowed to accept payments in ZAR (Rands, local currency). This is in accordance to the South African Reserve regulation, strict control of foreign currency. hellobooks.co.za do however provide facilities to convert local currency, from Rands to Euros, Sterling Pounds and US Dollars. Before making any purchase online, please contact info@hellobooks.co.za for future assistance with shipping facilities and final cost (price).
